I am Stuttgarting to like Germany
We went to two cities in Germany. Our first stop was in Heidelberg, and our second was in Stuttgart. We went to Heidelberg because Chris was born there when his Father was stationed there. Ben and I were only in Heidelberg for a day. We spent that day walking the main road towards the castle and then visiting the castle. We rode a funicular to the castle, which was quite neat. The castle was much different from the ones we visited in the UK. The castle had a Museum part that explored medicine and old pharmacies. Some of the castle was still in ruins, some of it was being reconstructed but some was being preserved how it was destroyed. The castle was also home to the largest wine barel in the world. It had its own room that resembled where a ship would be kept. Ben and I departed Heidelberg from the castle and started our journey to Stuttgart.
Our original goal of going to Stuttgart was to visit the school OSU works with for Ben's GFR car and competition. However, it was a bit far to see in our time there. Instead, we spent our day in Stuttgart visiting car museums, first was the Porsche museum, and for my fellow Disney fans, yes, Sally from Cars was there. We saw a lot of cars and learned about what each one had done during their careers. All of the vehicles there were still drivable and were maintained. The museum claimed that almost all Vehicles are driven once every year or so. The second museum we went to was the Mercedes-Benz museum. The Mercedes museum had so much history and culture about the cars and other things happening as their company grew. The museum was about six floors but they blended together. With the audio guides, there were lanyards branded to the museum. At the end we got to take the lanyards home which was pretty neat, a "free" souvenir.
We spent a reasonable amount of time just walking around Stuttgart since we had a place close to the middle of the city. We saw the castle there, how could we go somewhere without visiting the castle? We walked by the city hall building and a park with a pond in it. There were a lot of college-aged folks hanging out in the park to part or whatever they were planning to do on this weekend summer day.
We left Stuttgart early in the morning but caught a beautiful sunrise from the train station. Now, back to France!
